Bomb Threat

On 03/23/09 at approximately 0830 hrs, the Frederick Police Department responded to the Medimmune Corporation for a bomb threat. Medimmune is located in the 600 block of Solarex Ct. Frederick, MD. An employee of the company found a note written on the wall inside a restroom that indicated a bomb would explode inside the building on today’s date at 1300 hrs. The United Fire Company responded with an engine, ambulance, and duty vehicle. They were on stand-by during the incident. Bomb dogs from MSP, Montgomery County PD, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s responded to the location and subsequently searched the building for explosives. The building was evacuated prior to the search of the building. Two of the bomb dogs were very interested in a container that was inside a utility room, and it appeared to have some sort of electrical cord running towards it. The bomb squad responded to examine and remove the container. They found that it was not an explosive and the cord was actually a portable two-way radio. There were no injuries and local traffic was congested due to the incident. The threat remains under investigation by the Department’s Criminal investigation Division and the FBI.
