HAUNTED DEAD OR ALIVE to open at LANDON HOUSE IN URBANA

"HAUNTED DEAD OR ALIVE" OPENS AT THE HISTORIC LANDON HOUSE CONFEDERATE MANSION IN URBANA EVERY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY IN OCTOBER!

September 17, 2010 (for immediate release):  Take a Paranormal Journey to Hades every Friday and Saturday in October as the historic Landon House in Urbana unveils its all-new haunted attraction called HAUNTED DEAD OR ALIVE.  "Vampires and zombies are so passe' "  notes Landon House owner Kevin Dolan in his guise as Johnny Reb.  "Today is the Anniversary of the bloodiest day in American history....the Battle of Antietam.  Over 23,000 brave Union and Confederate soldiers killed, wounded or missing in action. That isn't make believe.  They died to protect the freedoms we take for granted.  Of course, it wouldn't be a haunted event if we didn't have zombies and vampires and chainsaws.  And we do."

So take a short jaunt across the Mason-Dixon line to the creep-tastic Landon House Mansion, 12,000 square feet and six acres of pure terror.  As you slowly roll onto Johnny Reb's Estate of Horrors a chill runs down your spine.  The anticipation is unbearable as you make your way to the ticket line and prepare for a disturbing journey into the depths of depravity.  Ghostly Civil War soldiers, both Union and Confederate, confront you as you are led through the Haunted Holler of the old place.  Moving through the massive, 250-year old former silk mill, a variety of ghastly ghouls appear in the darkness, ready to attack...will they?

Victims encounter all sorts of horrible creatures...Rebel zombies, beasts of burden, homicidal maniacs, Evil Undead, Deranged Farmers, Paranormal Investigators with an axe to grind, Unhinged Rednecks, Northern Scum, Insane Preachers, the Civil War Widow Woman, the legendary Abomination...Is it scary?  We HOWL at your naive question!  How impertinent of you!  Of course it is child!  But, innocent that you are, it is the PARENTS who usually run out screaming bloody blue murder...Your heart can't take it...just a few more feet until the grand finale...and then it is over.  Or is it?  After all, Dear Friends, getting skeered is the whole point, ain't it?

Pricing:  $15 adults; $10 kids under 12.  Cash only. No Refunds. No Exchanges.  Event is held rain or shine.   No smoking, alcohol, drugs or foul language allowed on property.  We reserve the right to eject unruly patrons without a refund. Reservations are not required.

Directions:  The Haunted Landon House Mansion and Estate is located at the intersection of Rt. 355 and 80 in Urbana.  Take Rt. 270 to Exit 26 Urbana.  Continue 1/3 mile to the 355/80 intersection and turn left then immediate right into Landon House driveway.

Dates:  Fri/Sat at 8pm:  October 1, 2, 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, 23, 29, 30th

Great Frederick Fair Traffic

The Frederick Police Department would like to remind citizens of the traffic congestion that is expected around the Fairgrounds during the 2010 Great Frederick Fair. The fair is scheduled for September 17th through September 25th.
Drivers should remain alert to traffic pattern changes as well as signs directing them to the many parking lots utilized for Fair Parking. All traffic pattern changes are designed to ease congestion and direct traffic flow to available fair parking. This includes parking on Highland St., Franklin St., Monroe Ave. and Monocacy Blvd.

Both Police and Auxiliary Officers with the Department will be directing traffic in order to assist with the expected high volume of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Drivers are asked to remain patient, follow the directions of the officers and utilize caution during these periods of congestion.

Motorists not wishing to attend the Great Frederick Fair should plan an alternate route to avoid the congestion on the east end of Frederick in the area of the Fairgrounds.

LIGHT THE CREEK

LIGHT THE CREEK EVENT FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 10th

September 1, 2010, Frederick, MD - Get the In the Street celebration started early with a night of music, food, beer and wine gardens and the chance to support a local charity. Light the Creek is the perfect way to get ready for the In the Street celebration! This year’s event will be located at the Carroll Creek Amphitheatre from 6:00pm to 9:00pm. The festivities will offer a live performance by Spyro Gyra’s Scott Ambush. There will also be beer and wine gardens with a $3 cover charge for guests 21years or older with a valid ID.

This year Maryland Lottery will be joining us for an on site lottery drawing. At 8:00pm there will be a pick 3, pick 4 and a Bonus Match 5 drawing. Get a chance to see the lottery process live and try your luck for a chance to win.

Light the Creek also includes the opportunity to support Frederick’s local non- profit organizations. $5 tokens can be purchased and donated to your favorite local charity. Be sure to bring your wallet for the chance to give back to the community while enjoying the live entertainment of Scott Ambush.

Known for being the talented bass player of Spyro Gyra, Ambush has developed his own style of rock inspired jazz. He has taken the influence of classics like Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin and blended it with the jazz sounds of Stanley Clark and Return to Forever. His performance will surely set the tone for a weekend full of festivities and great entertainment.

You won’t want to miss great company, entertainment and charity at the Light the Creek event on Friday September 10th. And, what a perfect way to gear-up for In the Street on Saturday, September 11th in downtown Frederick!

This event would not be possible without the continuous support of our Corporate Community. This year’s Spires sponsors include: Bechtel Group Foundation and Spectrum Federal Credit Union. The Carillon sponsors are Comcast, Sandy Spring Bank, Weis Markets, WFRE, and WFMD. The 2010 Band shell sponsors are BB&T, COMSTAR Federal Credit Union, The Frederick News-Post, The Plamondon Companies, and WHAG. Special thanks to Bud Light and Clym Environmental Services.
