2010 SUMMERFEST FAMILY THEATRE PRESENTS

‘THE GRANDSONS’

Get ready for a lively exchange of humor, fun, musical riffs and moving feet with the Grandsons, a local band from Washington D.C. that is scheduled to perform on the Baker Park Bandshell stage Thursday, July 15^th. This free live performance—part of the Summerfest Family Theatre, presented by Celebrate Frederick, Inc.—begins at 10:30 a.m.

Since their debut in 1991, the Grandsons released countless award-winning songs that received praise in both local and national press. The band, comprised of Alan MacEwen, Matthew Sedgley and Chris Watling, combines instruments like the saxophone, guitar, drums, and accordion to create a fresh Roots Rock sound that will amaze young and old alike.

In addition to their sold-out shows at the Barns of Wolf Trap, the Grandsons have appeared at Austin’s South by Southwest Music Festival, the Fete Jeanne d’Arc in Reims, France, the Bethlehem, PA Musikfest, the Kennedy Center, and many more. The band made its US television debut on the PBS program “Frontline”.

While all Summerfest Theatre performances are free to the public, the Summerfest Family Theatre Committee encourages you to bring a canned food item in lieu of admission. Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are requested. All items collected benefit the Frederick Food Bank.

The performance is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Baker Park Bandshell. The performance is weather permitting, in the event of inclement weather please visit www.celebratefrederick.com for news of event cancellations.
