Celebrate Frederick is looking for talented, skilled volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors and to staff its event and operating committees. The mission statement of the organization is to “work in partnership with the City of Frederick in the planning and implementation of special events and activities to offer the community a shared cultural experience.”
“This is the first time we have gone out to the entire community to seek participation on this broad a level,” said Amy Riley, special events manager for City of Frederick. “Our philosophy is openness and inclusiveness, and we invite everyone to participate. What better way to get involved in your community, to meet new friends, and to have fun planning Frederick’s most popular events!”
The Board of Directors skillfully provides direction, management, strategic planning and leadership to the organization and its event committees. Celebrate Frederick produces fourteen annual events in the City of Frederick each year, with signature events including Frederick’s 4th-An Independence Day Celebration, Summer Concert Series in Baker Park and In the Street.
The open positions and terms of office are as follows.
Board of Directors (two year-terms): Three (3) positions

The Holidays in Historic Frederick
Festival of Lights
Children’s Weekend
Marketing Committee
Volunteer Committee
The organization has openings for volunteers on all event committees not listed above, including Frederick’s 4th - An Independence Day Celebration; In the Street; the Candlelight House Tour; and the Kris Kringle Procession. In addition, Celebrate Frederick has a special need for people to serve on the Volunteer Committee. “We’re looking for talent, commitment, and a diversity that represents our entire community,” said Peggy Dufour, president of the Board of Directors. “If you want to serve, we have a place for you.”
