May 25, 2010 - Donald C. Barnes, Frederick County Sheriff from 1974-1982, today passed away as a result of a massive heart attack. (photo above from PPF fundraising event). In recent year's Don Barnes appeared with his group Don Barnes and the Countrymen at various community events.
Mr. Donald Charles Barnes, Sr, 68, of New Market, former Frederick County Sheriff and renowned musician, died suddenly on Tuesday, May 25, 2010, when he collapsed at home and was taken to the Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was the loving and devoted husband of Debbie Williams Barnes.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 9pm on Friday, May 28th at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church Street, Frederick. Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 29 from the Frederick Church of the Brethren, 201 Fairview Avenue, Frederick. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the PPF, Inc, Family Crisis Recipient Fund, 11102 Eagletrace Dr, New Market, MD 21774.
