Citizen Police Academy (CPA)

The Frederick Police Department is pleased to announce it will be conducting the 18th session of its Citizen Police Academy (CPA) starting in August of 2010. The Citizens Police Academy is a 10-week program designed to give interested citizens an overview of the many functions of their police department to include participating in a ride-along with a patrol officer. Classes will meet on Tuesday or Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. starting August 11th running thru October 13st, 2010. There will be a final practical exercise/ graduation day on Saturday October 16th, 2010.

Upon completion of the program, participants will not be sworn police officers, nor be expected to perform any law enforcement functions; they will, however, have a greater understanding of what the Frederick Police Department does and how we can work together to make Frederick an even better community for everyone.

The CPA is open to any resident of the City of Frederick or person with business interest in the city, who is 18-years or older, and has no serious criminal history.

For an enrollment form or for more information, please contact Cpl. Jay Brown at 301-600-3914 or by e-mail at jbrown3@frederickmdpolice.org. The application closing date will be Friday, July 30th at 4:00 PM.
