Shooting in the 1300 block of David Lane

Preliminary Information – Shooting in the 1300 block of David Lane. Altercation occurred in front of a residence between approximately four subjects. Punches were thrown and a shot was fired striking one of the subjects in the leg. This wound is apparently not life threatening. Canvass of the area met with negative results. Scene is still being worked by CID and the CSU. An updated press release will follow at a later time.

UPDATE:

On 06/28/09 at approximately 9:53 pm, officers with the Frederick Police Department responded to the 1300 block of David Lane for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male inside a residence who had sustained a single gunshot wound to the left leg. The victim also sustained a cut to the top of his head from being struck with a handgun.

Investigation revealed the victim had exited his vehicle and was walking to a residence on David Lane, when heard noises coming from nearby bushes. As the male reached the door of the residence, he was confronted by two males brandishing handguns. As the victim began to set a bag he was carrying on the ground, one of the suspects struck him in the head with a handgun. The victim fought back, striking one of the suspects and knocking him to the ground. The second suspect then fired on the victim, striking him in the leg.

The suspects immediately fled the area on foot. An extensive search of the area, including a canine track, was conducted. The suspects were not located. The victim further reported seeing a female with the suspects. She stood back from the altercation and fled with the male suspects following the shooting.

The following is a description of the suspects:

Suspect #1 – Black male, medium complexion, approximately 6’00” tall, wearing a dark colored bandana covering his face, dark clothing and a dark hat. Early 20’s

Suspect #2 – Black male, lighter skin, approximately 5’8” tall, short hair, goatee, wearing a dark ball cap. Early 20’s

Suspect #3 – Light skin female, unknown race, dark hair, approximately 5’6” tall, wearing a light colored shirt and blue jeans.

The victim was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital. He was released following treatment for his injuries.

The investigation is continuing. At this time, robbery appears to be the motive for the incident.

Frederick, MD - July 4th Tea Party: Take Back America

Citizens of Frederick County Maryland gather to protest out-of-control spending and government growth.

Frederick, Maryland, July 4, 2009: On Saturday, July 4th, citizens from Frederick Maryland and surrounding counties, frustrated with the unrestrained growth in the size and power of government will gather again the make sure their voices are heard. The rally, to be held at the Frederick County Court House from 8:30 am to 10:00 am will feature local speakers from grassroots leaders, businesses and a variety of Frederick County Citizens. There will also be a guest appearance by President Thomas Jefferson to re-read the original Declaration of Independence.

Billed as “Take Back America” the rally is a follow up on the highly successful Tax Day Tea Party held on April 15th under rain dampened skies and in hundreds of cities across the country where attendees voiced their displeasure with the massive growth of an increasingly powerful federal government and unsustainable spending and debt. Speakers, led by Blaine Young of WFMD-AM 930 will offer opinions and suggestions on how to restore the balance of power between the federal government and the states and individuals.The goal of the organizers of the rally is to provide a platform for citizens and grassroots leaders to come together to inspire participation in the growing movement for a return to constitutional principles with a focus on recruiting and supporting candidates at all levels, who are dedicated to limited government, individual liberty and free market principles. Speakers scheduled to appear include President Thomas Jefferson, Blaine Young and Bob Miller of WFMD, Sherriff Chuck Jenkins, Congressman Roscoe Bartlett, Joshua Lyons, Co-organizer, We Surround Them, Frederick County, and, Mark E. Kreslins, Co-organizer, We Surround Them, Frederick County.

The event is non-partisan and organizers have not solicited funds from political parties. The organizers have numerous volunteers to help stage the rally which will be broadcast over WFMD airwaves.

Stolen Car / Pursuit Arrest

Stolen Car / Pursuit Arrest…. On 06/26/2009 at approximately 0019 hours, OFC M.A. Irons of the Frederick Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle that he observed driving without headlights in the area of Mill Pond Dr. and Monocacy Blvd. Instead of stopping, the vehicle sped up and attempted to elude OFC Irons. OFC Irons followed the vehicle from the initial area E/B on Rt. 26 and then into the Riverside sub-division on Waterside Dr. As they reached the area of Waterside and Cameron Way, the driver stopped the vehicle and then fled on foot. OFC Irons and OFC A. McPeak pursued the driver on foot and apprehended him in the backyard of a residence on Cameron Way. The driver was arrested and charged as listed below. Following the arrest, OFC Irons learned that the vehicle had been stolen only moments before he had initiated the original traffic stop and the arrestee was found to be in possession of a prescription drug that was not his nor prescribed to him. Following processing, the arrestee was transported to Frederick County Central for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

CDS (Heroin) Arrest

CDS (Heroin) Arrest…. On 06/27/2009, at 0415 hours, OFC K.A. Myers and Cpl. M.E.Pue, III of the Frederick Police Department responded to the parking lot of Costco at 10 Walser Dr. for a reported erratic driver who had possibly been involved in a property damage accident. The officers located the vehicle and driver still in the parking lot. The officers were able to confirm that no accident had occurred, but while OFC Myers was speaking with the driver, Cpl. Pue was able to observe the interior of the vehicle and saw several items of CDS paraphernalia along with a quantity of suspected Heroin lying in plain view in the car. The driver was arrested and charged as listed below. The driver was transported to FMH ER for evaluation and released late in the evening of the 27^th at which time he was transported to Frederick County Central Booking where he is awaiting an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

PNC Foundation grants gift to the Weinberg Center

PNC Foundation grants gift to the Weinberg Center’s Capital Campaign

The Weinberg Center for the Arts is pleased to announce they have received a generous leadership gift of $75,000 from The PNC Foundation to be used towards the Weinberg Center’s current $1 million dollar Capital Campaign. The leadership gift has been designated for upgrades towards the renovation and restoration of the Center's Marquee. Additionally, the gift will be matched dollar for dollar from a challenge grant given to the Center by the Ausherman Family Foundation.

"The Weinberg Center for the Arts is one of the jewels of downtown Frederick. Supporting the Weinberg’s restoration efforts means that we’re supporting the historic character of downtown Frederick as well as our vibrant arts community--one that is a key economic engine for this city," said Gordon M. Cooley, Regional President for PNC Bank's Western Maryland region.

"The gift from the PNC Foundation is designated for the restoration and replacement of the marquee. Through research, the planning committee for the Weinberg’s restoration efforts identified a company that specializes in historic theater marquees. “This gift gets us halfway towards our goal for the new, historic marquee,” said John Healey, Executive Theatre Manager of the Weinberg Center for the Arts. "The design is not finalized, but the change will be one that is more historically accurate to the period of the building while adding some needed safety and visual upgrades.”


More about the Capital Campaign

The Weinberg Center, originally built in 1926 is now reaching out to the community to help make much needed improvements to the Center. Major renovations have not taken place at the Center since 1976, when the Center was donated to the City of Frederick as the Weinberg Center for the Arts. The Ausherman Family Foundation awarded the Center with a two-year challenge grant that matches dollar for dollar on donations received towards the Capital Campaign now through December 31, 2010. The PNC Foundation grant will be matched and will ensure that renovations at the Weinberg Center continue over the next several years.


The Capital Campaign is raising money for continued facility improvements. Some of the projects planned are an upgrade to the Grande Drape, Lobby and Mezzanine updates, a new marquee, façade improvements, and many others. Many different naming opportunities are available for the Greater Frederick community. Opportunities include the naming rights to seats, a star in the Star Hall of Fame, and naming opportunities of physical spaces within the Center. Business Survey

The Frederick Police Department is continuing its commitment to partnering with the business community by gathering critical information from all businesses located in the City. Members of the Department’s Uniformed Auxiliary are heading up the effort to obtain basic business information such as after hours contact information and email addresses in order to contact owners or employees in the event a public safety need arises.

There are approximately 6,000 businesses in the City of Frederick. The Department is asking businesses to log on to the Department’s website, www.cityoffrederick.com/police and click on “For Residents and Businesses” and then “Business Information Survey” to obtain the form to be completed. Print the form, complete it, and then It can then be mailed or faxed to the Department for our records. Information provided will be held as strictly confidential. Members of the Auxiliary will conduct follow-up contacts as needed. Businesses are also asked to provide updated information whenever the information initially provided changes.

Death Investigation

On today’s date at 6:03 AM, officers with the Frederick Police Department responded to 420 Prospect Blvd., the Best Western Motel, for a report of a suspicious incident. Officers and Emergency Medical personnel found a male lying on the sidewalk in that location that was deceased. Investigators found no evidence of foul play at the scene and natural causes are suspected at this point. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical examiner in order to perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The deceased person is identified as Terry Brian Brinkman, 51 years old, of Cumberland, Maryland.

Drug Arrests

On this date members of the Drug Enforcement Unit served a search and seizure warrant at 318 E. Patrick St. Apt. 2. Upon service of the warrant officers located marijuana and related paraphernalia. A further search of the residence officers located psylocibin mushrooms. The occupants of the residence, Michael Street and Deidre Smith were both placed under arrest.

Street and Smith were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Youth Police Academy

Space is still available in the Frederick Police Department 6^th annual Youth Police Academy. This program provides youth ages 7-14 with a close-up look at Law Enforcement and tools of the trade.

The youth will have the opportunity to learn what it is like to be a police officer, by participating in scenarios, learning about stranger danger, internet safety, having a chance to see departmental equipment, watch a K-9 demonstration, dust for fingerprints, process a staged crime scene and receive information on departmental programs. All attendees will also have the chance to attempt a physical agility course.

The academy will offer 4 sessions: July 13^th, 14^th, 15^th, and 16^th from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm and is limited to 50 youth per day. The program will be held at the Charles V. Main Training Facility located at 6424 Plant Road, Frederick Maryland. Slots are available for each day, but are filling up fast!

Shooting Arrest

On the above date at approximately 0200 hrs. Officers of the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division and CID apprehended the suspect in the earlier shooting incident. At Approximately 1851 hrs. Patrol Squad “D”, DEU and DPU responded to a shooting incident near E. Fifth St. and Laboring Sons Alley in Frederick. During the investigation it was determined that a vehicle had been struck by gunfire; no one was injured during the incident. Extensive investigation revealed that the arrestee was in Laboring Sons Alley and fired at a passing vehicle occupied by a male subject on East Street. The vehicle was later located North of the crime scene with disabling damage. It was seized as evidence and removed from the area. The suspect was identified and further investigation uncovered his whereabouts leading to his arrest without further incident.

UPDATE: The suspect, Nicholas Lane (photo right), was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and charged with Attempted 1^st Degree Murder, 1^st Degree Assault, 2^nd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment and Wearing and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon. At the time of this release, Lane was awaiting an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Frederick Police Academy

On June 19^th, 2009 the Frederick Police Department will celebrate the accomplishments of thirteen of the area’s newest police officers. On this date one Thurmont Police Officer, three Annapolis Police Officers, and nine Frederick Police officers will graduate from the Frederick Police Academy – western Maryland’s longest, continuous, certified police academy.

Mr. Craig Floyd, Executive Director of the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in Washington, DC, will be delivering the commencement speech. The Frederick Police Department welcomes him to Frederick and welcomes his remarks and words of encouragement to the newest members of our law enforcement family.

National Night Out Celebrations

National Night Out Celebrations

The Frederick Police Department is looking for community, civic, and business organizations to participate in this year’s National Night Out Celebration to be held on Tuesday August 4^th from 6:00 – 9:00 pm. National Night Out is when 34 million people in 10,000 communities join forces to promote community-police partnerships; crime, drug and violence prevention; safety, and neighborhood unity.

This year the Frederick Police Department along with our community partners will be organizing National Night Out in four areas of the city: Whittier Community, Mullinix Park, Lake Coventry Park, and in the Sagner Community.

There will be demonstrations and activities scheduled for the entire family at each location. We are encouraging the business and service community to come out and participate with us by providing information about their business or services. Destruction of Property

Destruction of Property. On 06/17/2009 @ approximately 0529 hours, members of the Frederick Police Department responded to what turned out to be the first of many reports of destruction of property to motor vehicles. At the time of this writing, a total of 23 vehicles had been located in which the windows had apparently been shot out with a BB gun. The locations of these vehicles ranged from the area of Jubal Way and Monocacy Blvd. to N. Market St., N. Bentz St., W. South St. and W. All Saints St. It appears at this time that all of these incidents are related. All of these incidents appear to have occurred after 0215 hours this morning. June 15, 2009, Frederick, MD - Celebrate Frederick, Inc., in partnership with The City of Frederick, wishes to thank the Frederick Community for their tremendous support of the opening performance of the 2009 Summer Concert Series on Sunday, June 14, 2009. In lieu of admission, Celebrate Frederick encourages patrons to bring a canned food item to benefit the Frederick Food Bank. During Sunday night’s performance, a total of 989 items were collected.

This outstanding total is approximately one-fourth of the total items collected during an entire season of the Summer Concert Series and Summerfest Family Theatre performances combined. The Summer Concert Series encompasses eleven performances in the Baker Park Bandshell and Summerfest Family Theatre eight performances.

In the year 2008, approximately, 3,800 items were collected over the entire Summer Concert and Summerfest Family Theatre Series of events, and in 2007, approximately 3,700 items.

On the above date and time officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery at Westwind Apartments, 1090 Greenwall Place. The victim when returning home with his family was approached by 2 B/M’s in the stairway of his building. One of the suspects pointed what appeared to be some type of weapon at the victim and demanded his money. The second suspect searched the victim and took his wallet and it’s contents. No one was injured during the incident, the suspects were last seen leaving the scene on foot. They are described as:

Drug Arrest

On this date members of the drug Enforcement Unit were conducting observations in the area of Madison St. and Logan St. Officers observed a male known to them as Donovan Brown involved in a drug transaction with Eric Roark. Officers placed both subjects under arrest. Both subjects were transported to Frederick Police Department for processing.

During processing officers located an additional 33 grams of crack cocaine on Brown’s person. Brown and Roark were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District court Commissioner.

Hit and Run

The Frederick Police Department responded to a personal injury accident involving a bicyclist who was struck by a vehicle in the crosswalk at the intersection of Willowdale Dr. and W. Key Parkway at approximately 1100 AM. The 18 year old victim was not seriously injured, but was taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital for precautionary observation. The striking vehicle did stop at the scene and offer aid to the victim, but when the victim advised the driver he believed he was fine, the driver left without leaving information. The striking vehicle was described as a tan or light brown Honda, possibly a Civic operated by an African American female who may have been of Jamaican descent. Anyone with information regarding a possible vehicle or suspect is asked to contact Sgt. Wayne L. Trapp at 301-600-1258 or at wtrapp@fredco-md.net.

Drug Arrest

An officer on the Drug Enforcement Unit was on routine patrol in the area of Bentz St. and W. Second St. During this operation, an undercover officer made contact with a female who was identified as Pamela Tyler. Tyler solicited this officer and offered sexual acts in exchange for money. Tyler was placed under arrest.

Tyler was transported to Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Stabbing Arrest

Stabbing/ On 06/11/2009, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the Frederick Memorial Hospital Emergency Room for a reported stabbing. Upon their arrival, they found a victim being treated for a significant wound to his arm. The victim advised officers that he had been injured by the mother of his child during an argument. The victim advised that as he left the suspect’s apartment, to return to his own home, she followed him and threw a knife resulting in the wound to his arm. Officers then responded to the suspect’s apartment, located corroborating evidence and arrested the suspect without incident. At the time of this writing, the suspect had been transported the Frederick County Central Booking and was awaiting an appearance before a District Court Commissioner. The victim was treated and released from FMH ER.

Stabbing Arrest

On 06-10-09 at approximately 2104 hrs. Officers from the Frederick Police Dept responded to a reported stabbing on Mountain Gate Pl. Upon arrival it was determined that a father and son had argued and the son obtained a kitchen knife and attempted to stab his father with it. The father was not injured during the incident although other family members intervened to stop the assault. The suspect was arrested at the scene and transported to Central Booking by Off. Kacie Keesecker. Charges are as follows below.

Prostitution Arrest

Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol in the area of 999 W. Patrick St. An officer was approached by a male in the stairwell. The male proceeded to offer the officer crack cocaine for sex. The male who was identified as Maurice Hunt was placed under arrest.

Hunt was transported to the Frederick County Adult detention Center for an appearance before the District Court commissioner.

Drug Enforcement Unit Arrests

On this date members of the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol in the area of Motter Ave. and W. 9^th St. Officers observed a vehicle commit a traffic offense at this location. As officers contacted the occupants of the vehicle they immediately smelled PCP emanating from the vehicle. The driver Hubbard and the passenger Morris were placed under arrest. As both were removed from the vehicle officers located crack cocaine and additional drug paraphernalia.

An additional search of Morris, officers located approximately 6 grams of crack cocaine secreted on his person. Both suspects were transported to the Frederick County Adult detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

personal injury accident - update

Last week officers responded to the 100 block of Baughman’s Lane for a personal injury accident. They found that a collision occurred between a 2006 Honda Pilot and a person riding a skateboard. The person on the skateboard was an adult male, 26 YOA, and was he attempting to cross Baughman’s Lane. The driver of the SUV was traveling southbound and was initially in a line of traffic waiting to enter the left turn lane leading from Baughman’s Lane to RT 40. However, the adult male driver of the SUV, 50 YOA, decided to cross the center line into northbound traffic where the skateboarder was crossing. The person on the skateboard suffered a head injury from colliding with the right front portion of the SUV, and was flown by MSP helicopter to Baltimore Shock Trauma. He was in stable condition during the flight. The driver of the SUV was charged with Failure to drive right of center. No updates on the skateboarder’s condition at the time of this press release.

Update: The skateboarder involved in the accident on Baughman’s Lane yesterday was released from Shock Trauma at approximately 0200 this morning. He suffered a mild concussion and received some stitches to his head area. He was resting at home and is expected to fully recover.

Theft Conspiracy arrests

At about 1517 hours on June 8, 2009, a minor hit and run accident was reported on Kingfisher Drive at Monocacy Boulevard. The victim of the accident followed the suspect as he drove from Route 26 west onto Route 15 south. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a black Mitsubishi Galant with DC plates.

As Frederick Police Dispatchers were updating officers of the hit and run suspect’s vehicle location, an employee of the Giant supermarket on Kingfisher Drive reported a theft. This theft involved two suspects who had fled in the Mitsubishi Galant. OFC John Hoxie located the Mitsubishi on Route 15/I-270 south, and made a traffic stop as it exited onto Route 85 south. Other officers arrived to assist.

OFC Hoxie identified the driver as Habakkuk Daniel Israel, and the passenger as Antoine Newgene Lamar Hicks. The driver was arrested for the hit and run, and the passenger was arrested for an outstanding warrant out of Fairfax, VA. The VA warrant included extradition for surrounding states, and the charge was for “Grand Larceny-Theft.”

While this was happening, OFC McGregor was investigating a theft that had occurred earlier at the CVS at 1305 West 7^th Street. OFC McGregor recovered a backpack that had been thrown at an employee as he chased a suspect. The backpack contained paperwork that linked it to Habakkuk Israel. OFC McGregor reviewed security video of the suspects. When he arrived at Central Booking to look at OFC Hoxie’s arrestees, he positively identified them as the same men stealing items from the CVS.

The stolen items, which included Crest white strips and razor blade cartridges, were recovered after a search of the vehicle.

On 06/08/2009 at approximately 2347 hours, OFC Douglas E. Stephenson responded to 1000 Heather Ridge Dr. (Country Hill Apartments) for a trespassing/disorderly conduct complaint. Upon his arrival, OFC Stephenson saw the below listed arrestee with whom he was familiar from other encounters. The subject was on the property of the apartment complex and OFC Stephenson knew him to be trespassed from this property. When OFC Stephenson approached, the subject fled on foot, but after a brief chase was apprehended. Following his arrest for the trespassing charge, the arrestee was searched and found to be in possession of a quantity of suspected marijuana. The arrestee was transported to FPD HQ and Frederick County Central Booking for processing. At the time of this writing, the arrestee was awaiting an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

On 06/08/2009 at approximately 2130 hours, OFC Kevin A. Myers of the Frederick Police Department responded to a reported Burglary call at 179 W. All Saints St. This building is an apartment building with 2 units. Upon his arrival, OFC Myers met with the property owner, who showed him multiple instances of severe damage to the first floor apartment. As they went to inspect the second floor, OFC Myers encountered the below listed arrestee in the second floor apartment. It was determined that the arrestee had broken into both apartments and had caused a large amount of destruction to both units. Damage was estimated at approximately $10,000.00. The arrestee was not a tenant and had no lawful right to be present in the building. He was arrested and charged as listed below. At the time of this writing, the arrestee had been transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he had an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Charges: 3^rd degree burglary, 4^th degree burglary, Destruction of property greater than $500.00, Destruction of property less than $500.00.

The service is free to the public, and allows residents to receive email alerts if a call for service occurs near their home. It also allows residents to view call for service activity on an easy to use map for any location within boundaries of the City of Frederick. Updated nightly, the system identifies the date, time, location, event type and incident number of calls for service and other events. Event location information is provided at the block or intersection level.

Armed Robbery

On Friday June 5, 2009 at approximately 10pm officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to 1471 Key Parkway at the Hickory Hills Apartments for a report of an Armed Robbery. OFC. Peter Genovese was the first officer on the scene to make contact with the victim. The female victim told OFC. Genovese that she was walking into the apartment building when she was approached by a black male, whom she had just passed on the sidewalk standing with two other black males, and the black male pointed a handgun at her head and demanded her purse. The victim complied and the black male, whom she described as being approximately 6 feet tall wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt with the hood pulled over his head, dark blue jeans and short “afro” style hair. The suspect and the two other black males, whom the victim could only describe as wearing dark clothing fled from the area across Key Parkway toward the Woodlawn Village Apartments. Anyone who may have witnessed or who has information about this robbery is urged to call the Frederick Police Department at 301-600-2100 immediately.

Attempted Strong Armed Robbery/Purse Snatching

On 06-04-09 at approximately 2135 hours, the victim was walking in the 400 block of Chapel Alley. She was approached by two black males, who spoke briefly to her. They then attempted to grab her purse, at which point she ran from the area. The victim was not able to give any description on the black males.

Arrested: Wilson, Sydalg Denise

On 06-01-09, at approximately 1645 Hours, members of the Frederick Police Department responded to an address in the 1000 block of Brecken Dell Ct. with regards to an assault in progress. Upon officers’ arrival, their investigation revealed that a 16 year old female-Sydalg Denise Wilson- had attacked her mother with a knife and then fled from the residence prior to police arrival. The victim in this case was found not to be seriously injured, but was extremely afraid for her life and she had barricaded herself in a bathroom as police were responding. Sydalg Wilson was not located that evening, and due to the seriousness of the charges, an arrest warrant was issued for her, charging her as an adult. She was also listed in the national computer system as a missing person due to her being a juvenile who could not be located. On 06-03-09, suspect Wilson was located and arrested by OFC Cox for shoplifting at the Rugged Warehouse on S. Jefferson St. Initially, she was deceptive as to her identity, but did eventually supply her correct name. When she was apprehended, she was found to have a knife concealed in her purse, the blade being wrapped in paper. It is unknown if this was the knife utilized in the assault on 06-01-09. The warrant was served on Wilson (photo right), and she was taken to Central Booking where she was held with no bond last night. She will have a bond review on today’s date, 06-04-09.

Armed Robbery Arrests

On 06/04/2009 at approximately 0029 hours, officers of the Frederick Police Department were dispatched to a reported armed robbery that had occurred at 1000 Heather Ridge Dr. Country Hill Apartments. The victim advised officers that he had been approached by several suspects, held at gun point and robbed of his phone, cash and some bank/credit cards. The suspects then fled in a vehicle that had several distinct identifying characteristics. While Frederick Police Officer D. Golden was still interviewing the victim, Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputy Blare observed a vehicle matching the description of the robbery suspects’ car E/B on Rt. 70. Dep. Blare and other deputies stopped this vehicle on Rt. 70 just east of Mt. Airy. FPD Cpl. Pue and OFC Golden responded to the traffic stop and after further investigation, it was determined that the occupants of the vehicle were indeed the suspects from the robbery. The suspects were arrested and a .25 caliber handgun was recovered along with the victim’s property. At the time of this writing, the suspects are undergoing arrest processing at FPD HQ and will be transported to Frederick County Central Booking for further processing and an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

DATE: 06/02/2009 TIME: 2120

On the above date and time, an armed robbery occurred inside the K-Mart store located in the 1000 block of W. Patrick St. The apparently lone suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from a store clerk. An amount of cash was placed inside the bag that was presented by the suspect. The suspect then left the store in an unknown direction. Witnesses described the suspect as a B/M, 6’0, athletic build, white dress shirt, jeans, and wearing a royal blue with red brim baseball cap. No one was injured during the robbery. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
