BENEFIT FREDERICK FOOD BANK

CELEBRATE FREDERICK EVENTS

BENEFIT FREDERICK FOOD BANK

June 15, 2009, Frederick, MD - Celebrate Frederick, Inc., in partnership with The City of Frederick, wishes to thank the Frederick Community for their tremendous support of the opening performance of the 2009 Summer Concert Series on Sunday, June 14, 2009. In lieu of admission, Celebrate Frederick encourages patrons to bring a canned food item to benefit the Frederick Food Bank. During Sunday night’s performance, a total of 989 items were collected.

This outstanding total is approximately one-fourth of the total items collected during an entire season of the Summer Concert Series and Summerfest Family Theatre performances combined. The Summer Concert Series encompasses eleven performances in the Baker Park Bandshell and Summerfest Family Theatre eight performances.

In the year 2008, approximately, 3,800 items were collected over the entire Summer Concert and Summerfest Family Theatre Series of events, and in 2007, approximately 3,700 items.

Non-perishable items such as canned meats and vegetables, soups, peanut butter, cereal, rice and pastas are preferred. Cash donations to benefit the Food Bank are also accepted.

The Summer Concert Series continues every Sunday evening at 7pm through August 30. Please note there is no Concert scheduled for Sunday, July 5. Summerfest Family Theatre begins on Thursday, June 25th at 10:30am and continues every Thursday morning through August 13.

The events would not be possible without the generous support of our corporate sponsors. The 2009 Spires Sponsors are Bechtel Group Foundation, Spectrum Federal Credit Union, and Weis Markets. The 2009 Carillon Sponsors are Comcast, The Plamondon Companies, Sandy Spring Bank, 99.9 WFRE, and 930 WFMD. The 2009 Bandshell Sponsors are BB&T, The Frederick News-Post and NBC-25; and our 2009 Program Sponsors are COMSTAR Federal Credit Union and The Gazette. Again, the series would not be possible without their generosity.
