Frederick Police Department Citizens Police Academy

On Saturday October 16th, 2010 the Frederick Police Department held the Practical Scenario/Graduation Presentation of the 18th Citizens Police Academy. During this day, graduates took part in simulated scenario based traffic stops and call for services exercises using the instruction and techniques taught during the program. Graduates also took part in a firearm safety class and had the opportunity to handle and shoot several different types of firearms. At the conclusion of the day, graduates received certificates of completion.

The Citizens Police Academy is a ten (10) week program designed to educate participants on the many facets of the law enforcement field which includes laws of arrest, DUI/DWI enforcement, search and seizure, use of force, and much more. It also informed the participants of the makeup of the Frederick Police Department and the community it serves. If you are interested in learning more about the program or the next class, please contact Cpl. Jay Brown at 301-600-3914 or email at jbrown3@frederickmdpolice.org
