Update #2 - On July 26, 2010, at approximately 0830 hours, detectives
from the Frederick Police Department's Criminal Investigation Division
responded to Merkle Inc. in Washington County, MD and apprehended Mark
Anthony Owens with the help of Hagerstown Police Department and
Washington County Sheriff's Office.
During the course of the investigation, FPD detectives were able to
determine that Owens, a Merkle employee, conspired with Steven
McGloster to commit the carjacking and subsequent robbery of a Merkle
courier while the courier was making deliveries in Frederick City.
Owens, of the 100 block of E. Franklin St. Hagerstown, MD, was charged
with the following:
1. Robbery
2. Armed robbery
3. Carjacking
4. Armed carjacking
5. Theft +$1,000
6. Conspiracy-related offenses
At this time, charges are pending against a third accomplice in the

Press release #1 - On today's date at approximately 1300 hrs. an armed
carjacking occurred in the unit block of N. Market St. in Frederick,
MD. The suspect entered the victim's vehicle and forced him to
another location on W. 5th Street. At that time the victim was
assaulted and property was removed from the victim's vehicle and
transferred to another Red in color SUV type vehicle. The victim
sustained minor injuries and did not require medical assistance. The
suspect and another subject in the Red SUV fled the scene in an
unknown direction. Witnesses were located at the scene where the
transfer of property occurred and are currently being interviewed by
CID. The investigation is being handled by CID. Anyone with
information regarding this incident is asked to call the Frederick

Update # 1 - Frederick Police Detectives have arrested Steven
McGloster for committing the armed carjacking. At about 11:00 pm
McGloster was taken into custody at his residence on Mulberry Ave. in
Hagerstown MD. Detectives were able to establish his identity
following various leads in the investigation. Several Officers from
various units with the Hagerstown Police Department assisted in the
investigations which lead to the recovery of several of the stolen
items including a large amount of the US currency that had been taken.
Detective Garcia continues to follow-up on the investigation and
anyone with information is still asked to contact him at the Frederick
Police Department at 301-600-1247. At the time of this press release
McGloster is being transported to Central Booking. Further charges
will be considered as the remainder of the investigation comes
