1st degree murder - Marshall Franklin Metz Sr.

On 09/29/09 at approximately 12:42 pm, officers responded to 753 Dogwood Ct. for a report of a shooting. Upon arriving on scene, officers located a female inside the residence suffering from two gunshots to the upper torso. The woman, later identified as Ann Sue Metz, age 60, was transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital where she died of her injuries.

The victim’s husband, identified as Marshall Franklin Metz Sr., age 65, was questioned by police at the scene and later transported to Frederick Memorial Hospital after experiencing a medical related condition.

Detectives secured a search warrant for the residence and continued their investigation. Based on evidence gathered at the scene and information gathered during the preliminary investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained for Mr. Metz charging him with 1^st degree murder, 2^nd degree murder and use of a handgun in the commission of a violent crime. The incident was domestic related.

A commitment pending hearing before a District Court Commissioner was issued while Metz is being treated at the hospital. He will have an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner when his medical condition permits.
