At approximately 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, 13 January, 2009, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to a reported armed robbery in the 1300 block of Taney Ave. Upon arrival of police, contact was made with the victim, Casey Day. Ms. Day stated that she had just been robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash by William Spencer, an acquaintance of hers. Ms. Day went on to say that Spencer had displayed a handgun, assaulted her as he stole her money. The initial investigation led police to believe that Spencer was hiding in an apartment in the 1300 block of Taney Ave. where officers staged for over an hour attempting to apprehend Spencer. However; they later learned that Spencer had fled to the Urbana area prior to their arrival. Upon learning this, Frederick Police Detectives went to Urbana, located and detained Spencer. There he was positively identified by Day as her assailant and he was arrested.
During the investigation of the robbery, Frederick police discovered that Day had an open warrant through Talbert County and was also arrested.
Both Spencer and Day (photos above) were transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
