Increase in residential burglaries downtown

This press release is meant to inform the public of a crime pattern identified by the Frederick Police Department. Frederick is experiencing an increase in residential burglaries primarily in the downtown area. The perpetrators are gaining access to unsecured garages and sheds. The most predominant items stolen are bicycles; however on one occasion garden equipment was also stolen.

All residents should ensure to properly secure garages, sheds, and outbuildings. Additional lighting should also be considered if your property is poorly lighted. As always, please maintain awareness and report suspicious activity in your neighborhood to the Frederick Police Department immediately.
