American Revival Tour Friday, October 30

The Weinberg Center kicks off its 2009-2010 Emerging Artists Series with the American Revival Tour, Friday, October 30, 2009, 8:00 p.m.

Bringing multiple skilled emerging artists to the Frederick audiences during the 2008-2009 season, The Weinberg Center for the Arts will continue its successful Emerging Artists Series this season by continuing to bring some of today’s rising stars to Frederick. Already well known across the country for playing such prestigious events as Telluride, MerleFest, the Grand Ole Opry and Prairie Home Companion, American Revival brings The Dixie Bee-Liners, Sierra Hull, and Uncle Earl together for the first time at the Weinberg Center on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 8 p.m. Drawing from the worlds of acoustic, folk, country, and bluegrass, American Revival brings you a taste of the most exciting young artists in these genres today. Tickets are $20 in advance, and $20 at the door.

Award-winning mandolin player Sierra Hull (photo) is 18 and has already earned the respect of the bluegrass world for her picking and singing alike, and she performs with Highway 111, which features Cory Walker on banjo, former Mountain Heart member Clay Hess on guitar, and Jacob Eller on bass. She recently became the first bluegrass musician to receive the Berklee School of Music's prestigious Presidential Award scholarship, which entitles her to a "full ride" to the school, where she will start studying this fall. Uncle Earl is a quartet of women who write and perform original music drawing on the traditions of old-time string bands. The Dixie Bee-Liners are known for their high-octane harmonies and stunningly beautiful original songs.
