Armed Robbery

On 07/21/09 at 9:30am members of the Patrol Division of the Frederick Police Department served an arrest warrant on Remington James Jones, age 19, of Olney, MD. Jones was charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, 1st degree assault, conspiracy to commit 1st degree assault, 2nd degree assault, conspiracy to commit 2nd degree assault, theft less than $100 and conspiracy to commit theft less than $100.

The warrant resulted from an armed robbery that occurred in the area of Greenwall Place at the Westwinds Apartments on 06/12/09. Investigation revealed the victim was walking to his apartment with his family, when he was confronted by two males in the stairway of his building. One of the suspects pointed what appeared to be some type of weapon at the victim and demanded money. The second suspect searched the victim and removed a wallet from his pants. The suspects then fled the scene on foot and were not located following an initial search. The victim was not injured during the incident.

Investigation conducted by Detective Michael Morgan led to the identification of Jones as the suspect who brandished the weapon during the robbery. The second suspect has not yet been identified. This investigation remains open pending the identification of the second suspect.
