Burglary

On tonight’s date, 07-19-09, at approximately 1921 hours, members of the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a reported Burglary in progress. Witnesses advised Patrol Officers a male was observed breaking the window and entering the window of a detached garage of a residence in the 200 block of Pin Oak Lane, Frederick. When Ofc. Alcorn and other officers arrived, they observed a male (later identified as Dana Jerome Ricketts - photo right) climbing back out of the window. When Ricketts observed officers, he fled on foot through yards and into Mt. Olivet Cemetery. After an extensive search, Ricketts was initially able to elude officers, but was located and arrested approximately an hour later. The investigation into the crime revealed that Ricketts had broken into the garage of family members in order to take items to pawn in order to purchase marijuana. Mr. Ricketts was taken to Central Booking and is awaiting a bond hearing and processing at the time of this release.
