Garage Burglaries, stolen bicycles

Over the past two weeks, The Frederick Police Department has seen an increase of thefts of bicycles from unlocked or open detached garages and sheds. These crimes have been committed in neighborhoods west and north of downtown Frederick. Areas include: West 2nd Street near Baker Park, Villa Estates (400-600 blocks of Biggs Avenue, Wilson Place, etc.), 1st block of East 13th Street, and the 200 block of East 6th Street.

The Frederick Police Department reminds residents to keep their garages closed and locked as much as possible. Also, it is important for bike owners to record their bicycle’s serial number, as well as the make, model, and colors. Having this information on hand makes it easier for police to return found bicycles to their owners, as well as charge those in possession of the bikes with theft.

When observed, please report suspicious activity immediately to 301-600-2102.
