Frederick Police Department Training Academy

The 51st Class of the Frederick Police Department Training Academy commenced on November 17th, 2008. The 7-month course of study and practical application will be conducted at the Frederick Police Department’s, Charles V. Main Training Center.

The Students will receive intensive training in a variety of areas. Some of the areas of instruction will include Police Ethics, Cultural Diversity, Police Officer Survival, Constitutional Law, Laws of Arrest, Search and Seizure, Report Writing, Basic Sign Language, Firearms Training, Criminal Investigation, and Collision Investigation. A significant portion of the training will deal with Human Behavior, Health, First Aid, and classes designed to enhance communications skills. Members of the community who are experts in their respective fields will teach several blocks of instruction.

Graduation is scheduled for June 19, 2009.

The attendees will include 10 Student Officers for the Frederick Police Department, four student officers from the Annapolis Police Department, and one student officer from the Thurmont Police Department.
