At 2:37 pm The Frederick Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 15th St and Rose Lane. Officers responded to the area and located a victim in the area of North East St. and 13th The victim was a 17 year old male student from Thomas Johnson high School suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Due to the nature of his injuries the victim was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. A possible suspect was observed leaving the area in a light colored silver sedan. The Criminal Investigation Division is following up on information and interviewing possible witnesses.
Area schools were notified and modified security measures implemented.
There is no reason to believe this is a random shooting however we are not disclosing any motive at this time
