Drug Enforcement Unit

On this date members of the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol in the area of Taney Ave. and Heather Ridge Dr. Officers observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in this area. Upon initiating a traffic stop on the vehicle, officers contacted a K-9 unit to perform a sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Officers removed the occupants from the vehicle and located a small quantity of marijuana and related paraphernalia in the purse of the passenger identified as Kayla Osso. Osso was placed under arrest and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

The driver of the vehicle was issued a citation for the traffic violation and released from the scene.
