On tonight’s date, 05-08-09, at approximately 2108 hours, the Frederick Police Department responded to a report of a child on a bicycle struck by a motor vehicle in the 1300 block of Appletree Ct. Upon arrival, OFC Hoxie found that a 10 year old boy who lived in the area was struck by a vehicle (Chev. Cobalt) as he rode his bicycle. The boy suffered a serious injury to his leg and he was transported him to University of MD Shock Trauma in Baltimore. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening. The female driver of the vehicle was not injured. OFC Hoxie’s investigation revealed that the child was riding on the sidewalk and then left the sidewalk to cross the street and was struck as he rode into the path of the vehicle. There were no charges placed on the 18 year old female driver.
