SHOOTING

On today’s date, 05-09-09, at approximately 0149 hours, members of the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a report of shots fired in the area of the first block of W. 6th St. Upon their arrival, Officers located one victim of a gunshot lying in the middle of W. 6th St. As multiple officers arrived, it was discovered that two additional victims had made their way to FMH’s Emergency Department. Detectives with the Department’s Criminal Investigation Division were called in and are currently actively conducting an investigation. At this time, the names of the victims, all three local adult males, are not being released at this time. Two of the victims are being treated at FMH and the third victim was flown via MD State Helicopter to University of MD Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. This incident is still under investigation and no further information is being released.

UPDATE:

Investigation of the shooting described above has revealed a vehicle and shooter description. Witnesses reported seeing a red compact car traveling north in the 600 block of N. Market St. A male was seen leaning out of the driver’s side rear window holding a handgun. The suspect fired multiple shots toward the first block of W. 6th St., striking the three victims. The vehicle was last seen turning west into the first block of W. 7th St.

The shooter was described as a black male in his late teens or early 20’s with shoulder length plats or dreads. No additional driver or passenger information was provided.

The three victims from the shooting are all being treated for non-life threatening injuries. Names of the victims are not being released.
