Drug enforcement Unit

On this date members of the Drug Enforcement Unit were on routine patrol in the area of Monocacy Village Park. Officers observed two vehicles they believed to be engaged in drug activity at this location. As the driver of one of the vehicles entered into the other vehicle, officers initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. After contacting the driver, officers called for a K-9 unit to perform a sniff of the vehicle. The K-9 alerted to the odor of CDS emanating from the vehicle. The driver was placed under arrest due to the positive K-9 sniff. He was searched incident to arrest and no additional contraband was located on his person. During a search of the vehicle, officers located a small quantity of marijuana. The passenger was released from the scene.

The driver Asbury was transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.
